Alina Husain

Alina is an Associate in the Professional Liability Department where she primarily handles property insurance litigation and architectural, engineering, and construction defect litigation.

Alina obtained her juris doctor from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. While in law school, she received the Dean's Merit Scholarship, Dean's List Scholarship, Thelma Casto Southard Award, and Joy Schwan-Best Memorial Scholarship. She served as Oxford International Law Reports Editor for the American University International Law Review and was Vice President of the South Asian Law Students' Association. Alina also acted as an interpreter for the International Refugee Assistance Program and was Assistant to the Committee Chair for the United Nations Committee Against Torture Project based in Washington, DC and Geneva, Switzerland.

After law school, Alina was employed at the National Immigrant Women's Advocacy Project as an Immigrant Women Law and Policy fellow where she helped developed policies for immigrant victims of violence. She worked briefly representing Plaintiffs in first-party property insurance matters before transitioning to insurance defense work.
Prior to law school, Alina attended the University of Toronto where she earned her Honors Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Anthropology, with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She spent her years between undergraduate studies and law school working overseas with non-profit organizations, educational institutions and the media.
