Brian D. Stokes

Brian D. Stokes, a partner in the firm's Orlando office, is Board Certified by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education in Civil Trial work with an emphasis on the defense of medical malpractice matters and personal injury claims. Prior to joining Wicker Smith, Mr. Stokes was a managing partner with an Orlando firm specializing in trial and transactional law. For two years, he was the managing attorney of the Florida Staff Counsel Office of Reliance Insurance Company and for several years, he also managed his own private practice.

Throughout his career, Mr. Stokes has been an active community leader and a supporter of various philanthropic endeavors. At the age of 19, he was, and still is today, the youngest council member to have been elected and served as a member of the Indian Harbour Beach City Council in Brevard County, Florida. Since 1985, he has accepted appointments from the local circuit courts as Guardian Ad Litem for children involved in the legal system.

In recognition of his dedicated service to the community, the Orlando Legal Aid Society bestowed upon him the Award of Excellence in 1994 for his pro bono service in the representation of the poor. That same year, he also received the Brevard Community College Distinguished Alumnus Award. Mr. Stokes has equally earned the respect of his peers, achieving an "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which evaluates lawyers based on the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary. Consecutively since 2006, he has been named to the list of Florida Super Lawyers.

Mr. Stokes graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Florida in 1981 and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1984. Admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in the state of Florida including the U.S. Supreme Court, Mr. Stokes is an active member of The Florida Bar, Orange County Bar Association, and Florida Defense Lawyers Association.

He lives in Orlando and is married with two children.
