Brian L. Hayden

Brian L. Hayden is an Associate in the Jacksonville, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C.

Mr. Hayden is a trusted advisor who provides practical legal advice to employers on a wide range of complex and evolving employment law issues. He routinely conducts investigations on behalf of companies and public entities related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage-hour violations, and other confidential personnel matters. Mr. Hayden frequently lectures and provides management and employee training on various employment-related topics, including sexual harassment prevention, leave policies, and employment law compliance. He also reviews and drafts employment-related policies and agreements. In addition, Mr. Hayden regularly updates employers on the latest developments in employment law, including drug testing, the impact of recreational marijuana laws, arbitration, pay equity/salary ban legislation, and sick pay.

Mr. Hayden also has an active litigation practice. Since 2010, he has successfully defended employers in state and federal court and administrative actions, including race, gender, religious, national origin, age, and disability discrimination; sexual harassment,; retaliation; wage and hour; breach of contract; and claims involving restrictive covenants and trade secrets. Mr. Hayden works diligently to resolve matters early in litigation when possible, but has also tried jury and bench trials before federal and state courts and arbitration panels. He has also handled appellate matters in Florida’s district courts of appeal and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to attending law school at the University of Florida, Mr. Hayden worked as a Series 7 and 63 licensed securities trader in New York City. He also worked as a volunteer in Poland for the United States Peace Corps immediately following his graduation from Yale University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.
