Charlene Underwood

CHARLENE UNDERWOOD earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University and her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, in New York. She was a prosecutor with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, for 10 years, prosecuting major and complex felony cases, including domestic violence, sexual assault, environmental crimes, consumer fraud, narcotic offenses, workers’ compensation fraud, and other general felonies. As a prosecutor with the Workers’ Compensation Fraud Division, she prosecuted both individual and provider fraud. Ms. Underwood has spent the past 21 years as a workers’ compensation defense attorney, defending major insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and the California Insurance Guarantee Association (CIGA), at all stages of litigation, through appeal. Based on her extensive experience prosecuting workers’ compensation fraud with the DA’s office, she has been the point person for the review and the handling of workers’ compensation fraud cases. She has been a featured speaker regarding workers’ compensation fraud issues. In her spare time, Ms. Underwood enjoys music, reading, and pro bono activities.
