ABOUT Daniel J. Algieri
Daniel J. Algieri focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation as well as general liability matters and complex construction defect litigation for design and construction professionals. He represents sponsors, developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and other professionals in claims involving negligence, code violations, breach of contract, and fraud. Dan’s litigation experience includes both aggressive motion practice and appellate advocacy, and he regularly counsels clients on policy recommendations related to risk mitigation and risk management.
Before beginning his career as an attorney, Dan was a senior paralegal at Patton Boggs LLP. In this role, Dan assisted in defending the city of New York and the World Trade Center Captive Insurance Company against more than 10,000 plaintiff personal injury claims following the rescue and recovery efforts associated with the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Dan was instrumental in evaluating the plaintiffs’ allegations and assisting to select bellwether plaintiffs for purposes of trial.
Experience Highlights
Design Professional Liability and Construction Defect Litigation
Dan has particularly deep experience in business litigation, professional liability defense, and defect claims arising out of the architecture, design, and construction industries. In one recent matter, the plaintiff, a condominium association, filed suit against the sponsor of a mixed-use residential and commercial building in Hoboken, New Jersey. The plaintiff also sued the property management company, the general contractor, and various subcontractors involved in the condominium construction.
Dan persuaded the court to grant his client summary judgementa •a decision that was later affirmed by the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
