Douglas Cuthbertson

Douglas Cuthbertson is a partner in Lieff Cabraser’s New York office.

Before joining Lieff Cabraser, Douglas worked as an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he was involved in civil litigation, including various shareholder and employment suits. Douglas also represented a domestic violence survivor facing malicious prosecution and false arrest suit brought by her abuser in Brooklyn Supreme Court, and represented an incarcerated individual in cooperation with the Legal Aid Society in a petition for resentencing under New York’s amended Rockefeller drug laws. In addition, Douglas successfully filed suit in the Brooklyn Housing Court on behalf of a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) tenant in cooperation with South Brooklyn Legal Services securing settlement requiring NYCHA to make needed repairs to the tenant’s apartment.

Douglas served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Andrew J. Peck from 2007 to 2009, where he worked to draft legal opinions and orders including Habeas Corpus petitions, Social Security appeals, and various suits involving New York State contract issues, Title VII employment discrimination, due process and First Amendment violations, and intellectual property claims.

Douglas is a Board member of the New York Civil Liberties Union.
