ABOUT Gregory D. Cribbs
Greg Cribbs focuses his practice on corporate finance, including commercial loan documentation, troubled loan workouts and bankruptcy. Mr. Cribbs also is involved in mergers and acquisitions, as well as general corporate law.
As a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Insolvency Group, Mr. Cribbs regularly represents banks and other secured creditors in bankruptcy matters. Mr. Cribbs also counsels businesses and lenders in out-of-court restructurings and financial workouts. His work regularly includes a variety of business purchase and sale transactions, including representing purchasers in sales of real estate, equipment and other assets through the bankruptcy process, as well as similar transactions outside of bankruptcy.
As a member of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial Group, Mr. Cribbs represents businesses in connection with their financing transactions outside of the bankruptcy arena. He represents lenders and borrowers in asset-based borrowing transactions, as well as multi-tiered financings involving preferred equity, mezzanine financing and traditional bank lending. Mr. Cribbs also has represented clients in investments, acquisitions and divestitures in a variety of industries.
Mr. Cribbs has a broad base of legal experience. Before joining Babst Calland in 2000, Mr. Cribbs served as Vice President and General Counsel of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League during a period that included the club’s successful transition through bankruptcy.
BackgroundMr. Cribbs earned his B.A. with honors from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1982. He obtained his J.D. with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and a Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs in 1986 from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Mr. Cribbs was a staff member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Journal of Law and Commerce.
