ABOUT James Park
James Park concentrates his practice on counseling banks and financial institutions on all of their corporate trust needs. He uses a unique blend of in-house and law firm knowledge and experience to guide his clients through their complex corporate trust matters, including residential and commercial mortgage-backed securitizations and other asset-backed securitizations, corporate and municipal debt, escrow services, and loan agency matters. Jim has broad and deep experience helping clients navigate through a wide range of significant transactional, default, dispute, restructuring, litigation, bankruptcy, and regulatory matters.
Jim gained deep substantive experience and an enterprise-wide perspective from his 13 years as a lead in-house counsel for Wells Fargo Corporate Trust Services, where he held a number of important roles. Jim was lead counsel on all default and restructuring matters for Corporate Trust Services – he guided them through much of the financial and housing crisis that impacted the RMBS space for more than a decade. He was lead counsel on all structured products matters, including as lead counsel to business development on all new transactions, which also included creating and implementing document standards for all agreements across the platform. He also was lead counsel on many defaulted corporate and municipal debt deals, disputed escrows, and complex collateral and administrative loan agency matters. Jim provided trusted and decisive leadership through many of the most complex matters presenting significant litigation, financial, regulatory, and reputational risk to resolution.
Jim regularly sets the strategy, advises, and provides creative and practical strategies on a variety of indenture trustee, trustee, trust administrator, master servicer, securities and bond administrator, calculation agent, escrow agent, paying agent, collateral and administrative agent, and document custodian matters. His clients highly value his law firm and in-house counsel background to bring the right balance of substantive legal experience and a client-focused perspective to their corporate trust matters.
