Johana Nieves

Johana practices in the areas of First-Party Property and General Liability. Prior to joining Cole, Scott & Kissane, Johana practiced in the areas of civil litigation, including personal injury, medical malpractice, civil rights, and employment law. Johana served in the General Counsel Office in the Florida Public Service Commission. Focusing on economic regulation and compliance, Johana dealt with utility certification, territorial disputes, and hurricane recovery efforts.

Johana Nieves attended Florida State University College of Law, where she graduated with a Business Law Certificate in May 2018. While there, she participated in the FSU Business Law Clinic, served as President of the Aviation and Space Law Society, and Internal Vice President of the Women’s Law Symposium. Johana earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in international studies from Keene State College in May 2015.

While in law school, Johana obtained a diverse background and skill set. Her first internship was working at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, in Stratford, Connecticut. Johana later went on to clerk at Gray Law, a family and marital law practice in Tallahassee, Florida. In the summer of 2017, Johana externed at Domi Station, a non-profit startup incubator and coworking space. During her last year of law school, Johana clerked at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where she worked in land use, procurement, securities, governmental, and regulatory matters.

Outside of the office, Johana has volunteered at the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the Florida Supreme Court Law Library.

Johana is fluent in Spanish.
