John T. Bullock

John Bullock helps businesses and individuals avoid, manage and resolve conflict. A skilled advisor and advocate, John has broad professional experience, including business litigation, employment, real property and land use, constitutional and civil rights, personal injuries, and appellate litigation. John regularly appears in state and federal courts on behalf of his clients. John has substantial experience advocating for his clients in mediations, arbitrations, governmental hearings, and other formal proceedings.

John brings a keen analytical mind to his clients’ legal issues and concerns. He recognizes that there is no substitute for hard work and diligence in the pursuit of his client’s goals. He is sensitive to the varying needs and priorities of his clients, including their economic objectives in pursuing conflict resolution.

John has acted as lead trial counsel or co-trial counsel in numerous contested proceedings, including trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings. He has extensive experience in motion practice before state and federal courts, as well as expert and lay witness depositions and other pre-trial discovery. He has worked with experts in a variety of substantive fields, and has negotiated settlements in very complex civil matters.

John received his B.A. from Kansas State University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa, a member of Blue Key Senior Honorary Society, and a Student Senator. John received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law, where he was Order of the Coif (top 10% of the class), Associate Editor of the Law Review, and a Rice Scholar.

Following Law School, John was a judicial law clerk to the Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, where he worked on civil and criminal litigation, bench and jury trials, and appeals pending before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

John has been rated "AV" by his peers. This is the highest rating an attorney can achieve, and it indicates the highest levels of legal and ethical professionalism.

John is licensed to practice law in Kansas, Missouri and California. He is a Master of the Judge Hugh Means American Inn of Court, where he also serves as Vice-President and Membership Chair. He is active in the Kansas Bar Association as CLE liaison for the Litigation Section. He is a member of the American, Kansas, Missouri, California and Douglas County Bar Associations. He was selected for the 2011-2012 Class of Leadership Lawrence, and is currently serving as President of the Lawrence Arts Center Board of Directors.
