Joseph A. Kovecses, Jr.

Joe is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice on representing and defending insurers in a wide variety of coverage disputes. He has substantial experience defending insurance companies in breach of contract and declaratory judgment actions involving issues of coverage, assignment of benefits, scope and pricing, and alleged bad faith arising out of policies for property damage, personal injury, professional management and professional liability, and other lines. Additionally, he has successfully helped navigate businesses through various disputes to avoid unnecessary litigation and, in the event litigation is unavoidable, aggressively represents businesses in various complex litigation matters, including partnership disputes, accounting actions, and the partition of commercial property. Joe also has experience representing community associations regarding statutory requirements for operation under Florida law and in disputes with property owners.

Experience Highlights

Global Insurance Services

Joe obtained a full defense jury verdict in a roof leak case in favor of a property insurer client after obtaining an order striking the opposing party’s expert witness. Joe successfully argued to the trial court that the expert’s testimony was based on nothing more than speculation and conjecture and therefore inadmissible under the law.

Commercial Litigation and Arbitration

Joe successfully defended and obtained final summary judgment in a defamation case concerning comments made on Facebook. The case was filed in retaliation for a partnership dispute that was pending in litigation.
