ABOUT Jun Zheng

Jun Zheng practices in the area of intellectual property law, particularly patent, trademark and trade secret litigation. He resolves complex intellectual property issues with his knowledge of electrical and computer engineering, especially in telecommunications, semiconductors, GPS navigation, blockchain, artificial intelligence, medical devices, multimedia processing and software applications.

Mr. Zheng has experience representing major tech companies, including many in the Fortune 500, before federal courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Particularly, he has extensive experience litigating in the Western District of Texas, having represented various clients in over ten cases before Judge Alan D. Albright in Waco, Texas. During law school, Mr. Zheng was a judicial intern with Judge John D. Love in the Eastern District of Texas in Tyler, Texas.

Mr. Zheng has experience in various stages of litigation, including preparing pleadings, serving process in foreign countries, motion practices, written discovery and document production, Markman briefings, technical analyses, and working with technical experts. He also has experience managing patent portfolios for large companies and research institutes involving a variety of technologies.

Prior to moving to the United States, Mr. Zheng lived in mainland China and Hong Kong for more than 25 years. With his deep understanding of the Chinese culture and legal industry, he has represented Chinese clients in U.S. courts and advised U.S. clients in IP lawsuits in China.

Mr. Zheng received his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was an editor for The Review of Litigation and for Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. He earned master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and from the University of Hong Kong, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He is a native speaker of Mandarin and proficient in Cantonese, and knows some Spanish.

• Defend large lighting fixture provider in ITC Section 337 investigations relating to LED lighting fixtures before the U.S. International Trade Commission.

• Defended Google and HP Inc. in patent infringement cases relating to audio/video service software in the Eastern District of Texas.

• Defend oil drilling service companies in patent infringement cases relating to oil drilling service equipment in the Western District of Texas.

• Represent Chinese company in trademark infringement cases in the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of Texas.

• Represented Micron Technology in trade secret case relating to DRAM design in the Northern District of California.

• Defended Micron Technology in patent infringement cases relating to integrated circuit design and manufacturing in various courts in China.

• Defended Xilinx in patent infringement cases relating to FPGA design and manufacturing in the Eastern District of Texas and Northern District of California.

• Defended Broadcom Inc. in patent infringement cases relating to integrated circuit design and manufacturing in various courts in China.

• Defended Synopsys in patent infringement case relating to hardware emulation of IC design in District of Oregon.
