ABOUT Karen T. Grottalio
Karen T. Grottalio joined the firm in 1998 and became a partner in 2002. She concentrates her practice in the representation of healthcare practitioners and major medical centers in medical liability litigation.
Karen is a seasoned trial lawyer, having tried complicated medical malpractice cases to successful verdict in many of the New York State venues. In addition to defending clients at trial, and in all phases of pre-trial proceedings in both state and federal court, Karen counsels clients on risk management issues.
She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Faculty Association of the Bar of the City of New York and has lectured on Taking and Defending Depositions.

Three Cases Dismissed In Favor of HPM&B Clients
In September, HPM&B attorneys gained summary judgment dismissals in two high exposure cases that were venued in The Bronx and another summary judgment dismissal by the Appellate Division, Second Department in a Brooklyn case involving the continuous treatment doctrine.

Defense Verdict in Medical Malpractice Case
In September, 2007, Karen T. Grottalio obtained a defense verdict in a medical malpractice case on behalf of a municipal hospital involving an alleged negligent intubation while plaintiff's treating physicians were preparing the patient for surgery. As a result, the plaintiff underwent an emergent tracheotomy, which caused scarring, subglottic stenosis and required additional surgery.Grottalio and Murphy Receive Favorable Decision in Potential Malpractice Case
Karen T. Grottalio, with the assistance of associate Laura S. Murphy, Esq., successfully obtained a decision denying plaintiff's order to show cause why she should not be permitted to file a late notice of claim on behalf of her infant allegedly injured as a neonate at a local hospital.
