Michael R. O'Clair

Michael O’Clair received his B.A. in English from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in New York, New York. He is licensed to practice law in Washington and Oregon. Before joining Soha & Lang in 1997, Mr. O’Clair practiced at Williams, Kastner & Gibbs in Seattle, Washington.


Mr. O’Clair’s practice emphasizes complex civil litigation including: insurance coverage litigation, product liability defense and medical malpractice defense. He has litigated cases in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Alaska, New Mexico and California. Mr. O’Clair has participated in litigation of matters as diverse as international banking transactions and CERCLA cost recovery actions.


In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. O’Clair has advised clients on insurance coverage issues arising out of claims involving construction defects, medical malpractice, ERISA violations, pollution liabilities, off-road vehicle accidents and fire losses.


Before he ever thought about being a lawyer, Mr. O’Clair worked on a small farm tending to thirty sheep, two cows, two pigs and an always dwindling quantity of chickens. When not practicing law, Mr. O’Clair enjoys cooking, fly fishing and the study of Japanese wood-block prints.
