ABOUT Michelle Todd Hackim

Ms. Hackim is Of Counsel in the Cleveland, Ohio office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She focuses her practice on employment litigation.

Ms. Hackim has successfully defended employers in a wide variety of employment litigation matters at both the federal and state level including, among other things, claims brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. She has also conducted management and human resource training sessions on anti-discrimination and anti-harassment programs, leave administration and litigation avoidance. Additionally, Ms. Hackim has handled workplace misconduct investigations for employers, and she regularly advises and counsels management and human resource professionals regarding complex disability, leave, and health management issues as well as workplace privacy issues, including Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance.

Ms. Hackim has been a presenter for the Society of Human Resource Professionals (SHRM), the Ohio Manufacturers Association and other organizations, speaking on various employment laws and their interpretation, as well as litigation avoidance techniques for employers in relation to employee discipline, discharge, pay and leave.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Hackim managed and reviewed the loan portfolios of small business clients at National City Bank. She also worked in consumer lending and credit management services with Wells Fargo for several years.

While attending law school, Ms. Hackim was a student-clinician with the Cleveland-Marshall Employment Law Clinic where she routinely advised and counseled clients on a variety of employment law issues related to employee discipline and discharge. In addition, she represented unemployed workers at administrative hearings before the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission. She received the ABA-ANA Award for Excellence in the Study of Employment and Labor Law and the CALI High “A” Award in Employment Law.
