Pierre J. Hubert

focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, including patent litigation matters in complex electrical- and computer-related technology. He also has experience in patent opinion work, portfolio management, and due diligence.

Mr. Hubert has experience representing both patent holders and accused infringers in many federal district courts across the country, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Hubert’s clients have included large and small companies in a wide array of technologies, including electrical- and computer-related hardware and software technologies such as memories (dynamic random access memories, static random access memories, flash memories, and caches), communication systems, wired and wireless networks, displays, information technology service management systems, application-specific integrated circuits, sensors, processors, user interfaces, and digital security. He also has experience in biomedical, materials, and mechanical technologies.

Mr. Hubert served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Pauline Newman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington DC from 1997 to 1999. Mr. Hubert is a 1997 graduate of New York University School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Rice University in 1992 with honors (with focus on circuits, control systems, and communications), and a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993.

Mr. Hubert is active in the Western District of Texas intellectual property bar. Mr. Hubert is a former President of the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association (Austin IPLA) consisting of hundreds of attorneys and business people interested in intellectual property law issues. He also coached the University of Texas IP Moot Court team over a seven-year period, including several national championship teams. Mr. Hubert is part of Judge Alan Albright’s working group of practicing attorneys that helps craft his patent case procedures.

Mr. Hubert lives in Rollingwood, Texas, with his wife and two boys. He enjoys spending time with his family and boating in the Highland Lakes. He is active as an adult leader in Scouts and has served as an industry mentor for high school robotics.

Prior to joining Duane Morris as a partner in 2018, Mr. Hubert was a partner in a large multinational law firm and a shareholder in a boutique litigation firm for many years.
