ABOUT Richard D. Landau

Richard D. Landau is a Principal in the White Plains and Albany, New York, offices of Jackson Lewis P.C. He has represented employers in all aspects of labor law and has extensive experience providing employers with strategic advice related to union organizing, negotiations, handling arbitrations and in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.

He has negotiated hundreds of collective bargaining agreements in dozens of industries including complex contracts covering over 1,500 employees, and handled over 100 arbitrations running the full gamut of labor contract issues. He practices before New York, Connecticut and federal anti-discrimination agencies handling claims involving all protected characteristics and harassment issues.

Mr. Landau is a frequent speaker before national and regional trade associations, not-for-profit associations, chambers of commerce and other business groups. He is a dynamic presenter educating employer audiences on the following topics:

•labor union activity including anticipating corporate campaigns;
•disability, leave, direct threat and reasonable accommodation concerns;
•sexual and other forms of workplace harassment;
•identifying vulnerability to workplace violence;
•ensuring wage and hour compliance including exemption issues; and
•client specific seminars covering the intricacies of hiring, evaluating, disciplining and terminating staff while minimizing litigation risk.

For almost five years, Mr. Landau wrote a weekly column entitled “The Next Day At The Office” addressing, in a humorous way, the legal workplace issues as portrayed in the television show The Office.
