Robert A. Berns

Robert A. Berns concentrates his practice in the areas of professional liability, commercial disputes, and insurance coverage and monitoring. He represents accountants, attorneys, real estate professionals and miscellaneous professionals in both state and federal court, as well as ethics, licensing and regulatory proceedings. Mr. Berns also represents insurers in coverage litigations and life insurance disputes and corporate clients in commercial disputes and consumer/lemon law claims.

Prior to joining KDV, Mr. Berns was a partner in a large national law firm where he also represented insurers in coverage and declaratory judgment actions, defended general liability claims and counseled clients on e-discovery matters.

Mr. Berns speaks before accountants’ and lawyers’ groups on risk management techniques, ethics and professional negligence issues. He began his legal career as the Law Secretary to the Honorable George P. Helfrich, J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Morris County.
