Shannon L. Rutherford

Shannon Rutherford is an associate in the Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources, and Litigation groups of Babst Calland. Ms. Rutherford assists clients on a wide range of state and federal environmental regulatory matters in the context of permitting, compliance counseling, remediation matters, easements, and business transactions. Additionally, she represents oil and gas companies in litigation related to environmental issues, and a variety of other matters including trespass, nuisance, property damage, and breach of contract.

Background

Ms. Rutherford is a native of West Virginia. Ms. Rutherford graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016, with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a B.S. in Psychology. She received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2019, where she served as the Notes Editor for the flagship Kentucky Law Journal. Ms. Rutherford obtained a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Constitutional Law II. During law school, Ms. Rutherford interned for Marathon Petroleum Corporation, and gained valuable insights into corporate and environmental challenges and solutions.
